aesthetic style

This design came to me kinda out of nowhere, but i loved the idea and had to draw it on paper.

It is influenced by the late 19th century Arts and Crafts Movement (or Aesthetic Movement) in Britain - the return to naturalism, artisan craft and handiwork. William Morris' designs of textiles are characteristic to this movement in fashion. In addition, as a protest against the Victorian fashion of wearing corsets, the Aesthetic fashions had a looser and unstructured style - which was considered as having loose morals.


*** COAT: Long spring coat of light wool with botanical iris print in red, emerald green and pale yellow. There is dark yellow trim on the lapel, sleeves, hems and waist of the coat. The coat is lined with salmon coloured silk.

*** DRESS: Heavily pleated gray silk chiffon dress with red glass beading of various sizes and hues.
